Recently elected Democratic Progressive Party President Lai Ching-te shares his experiences and expectations with newly inaugurated legislators, urging them to act as a bridge between the government and the people. Taiwan President-elect Lai Ching-te of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) visited the Legislative Yuan to participate in the ＂New Legislator Consensus Camp.＂ Lai encouraged the newly-elected DPP legislators, stressing his neutral stance in Congress. He shared his past experiences and strategies as DPP caucus head, as well as the painful experiences he went through during his tenure. Lai, hailed as the strongest caucus director during his time in the Legislative Yuan, gave three suggestions to the new legislators: to become a new force for the nation, to focus on their professional duties and ideals, and to work cooperatively with the party caucus to advance national development goals. Lai emphasized the importance of teamwork in the Legislative Yuan and hopes to guide the new legislators in effective governance and realizing their ideals in Congress through the sharing of experiences by Legislative Yuan Speaker You Si-kun and caucus whip Ker Chien-ming.

In 2022, 330,000 Taiwanese women withdrew from the labor market to care for their families, highlighting the challenges women face in balancing work and family life. This trend, coupled with workplace stress and inflexibility, is impacting Taiwan’s birth rate and female labor force participation.

Taipei City Councilor Yu Shu-hui questions Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an’s decision-making in expanding the services of the Taipei Youth Bureau, claiming that the bureau’s resources are spread too thin over nearly a million people. Yu proposes that the definition of ＂youth＂ should be limited to individuals aged 15-24, in line with the Work Force Development Agency’s definition. Mayor Chiang argues that the age limit was raised to 45 to accommodate individuals who start their businesses later in life. Chiang promises to review the positioning of the Youth Bureau’s services in response to Yu’s concerns.

The New Taipei City government hosted its first major talent recruitment event of the year. Fifty-six firms participated, seeking to fill more than 3,000 job openings, primarily in the service, retail, and technology manufacturing sectors.
